Antique English Mother of Pearl Visiting Card Case C.1850

Description

A fabulous Victorian Mother of Pearl or Nacre shell visiting card case, perfect to use for business cards or simply add this gem to your collection.

The case is smothered with tiles of Mother of Pearl shell with it's wonderful iridescent qualities. The front has a raised thick pillow of shell in a diamond shape intricately engraved with a basket of flowers, framed with an Abalone shell border.

The hinge is in perfect working order and the top of the case has a small silver coloured mount, which would be used for a monogram.

Dating to around 1850, it remains in excellent condition. 4" x 3".
