Early J & E Ratcliff Letter Clip C.1850

Description

A truly handsome and decorated letter or paper clip, as usable and useful today as it was over 160 years ago.

The clip has a strong sprung construction ready to hold your letters, papers or business cards in place, the base is signed by the famous Birmingham maker, J & E Ratcliff, operating in St. Paul's Square, Birmingham, from 1839 to 1881,

This example is lucky enough to have an English design registration diamond shaped lozenge which allows us to date the registration of this design accurately, January 2nd, 1845.

Excellent condition, measuring 5 1/2" x 2 5/8" x 2".
