A superb George III period housekeepers cupboard , or dresser, in mahogany. This piece of furniture is of very generous proportions and oozes country house estate charm. Very well made in solid mahogany with subtle decorations. For example, the cupboard doors are of fielded paneled construction and bear inlaid stringing to the panels; this inlaid detailing is repeated to the drawer fronts in the base section. There are reeeded columns/stiles which are capped with inlaid paterae. The diamond shaped escutcheons are in bone. The original solid mahogany drawer handles are present. All of these features denote the quality of this piece but at the same time are under-stated. The top section has two pairs of cupboard doors (lockable with keys supplied) which open to reveal shelved interiors. The base section accommodates 3 banks of 4 graduated drawers. All in all, this cupboard offers up significant storage capacity. Overall it has a wonderful mellow colour and patina, we have had it cleaned and waxed in our workshops but it still retains all of its character and charm. It is now offered for sale in excellent condition, ready to go straight into the home. It splits into two sections for ease of installation.
