A splendid Japanese Meiji period ivory okimono of an egg tester wearing a richly decorated kimono sat beside a basket of eggs clutching one of them in both hands, he peers into it with one eye closed to be sure it is fresh. The big toe of the man’s right foot has received a small chip some time ago otherwise the okimono is in excellent condition.
