Antique Silver Globe Pocket Watch, Chain and Fob

An antique silver Globe pocket watch with silver chain and guilloché enamel and silver fob.

The watch has a Swiss stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.

The watch itself measures 52mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside the case backs for London (import mark), 1918 with an importer’s mark for George Stockwell. From 1 June 1907, Stockwells acted as assay agents, facilitating the import into Britain of foreign gold and silver items, which had to be assayed and hallmarked in a UK assay office before being released for retail. The case is in good condition for its age, and the engine turned detail to the back is still nice and crisp… there is a small 1cm flattened patch to the side of the case.

The watch glass has a scratch but it only shows at certain angles.

The white enamel dial is in very nice condition. Blued steel hands (initially pin set), a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track.

The watch comes with a silver double chain hallmarked for Birmingham 1929, with a maker’s mark for the silversmith William Cashmore. Also included is a 1928 silver and guilloché enamel fob with an inscription to the reverse.

The watch and chain will be sent in a new presentation box.
