Hobson May Collection has dated this piece to the 1880s.
The beautifully turned legs also have gilded decoration and terminate in the original brass castors. With the back legs extended, the exquisite coromandel top lifts to reveal the original green baize playing surface. There is space under the top to store cards and gaming materials.
This fabulous table is a wonderful example of the craftsmanship of the Aesthetic Movement. The condition is excellent. it stands securely with no wobbles. There are two minor cracks inside the pull out drawer, these aren't detrimental and cannot be easily seen. The baize playing surface is faded, but the condition is still very good and this adds to the character and originality. The table bears the makers stamp and the design number, 384. This is a very unusual and highly decorative table by a superb maker, perfect to add style to any home.
