Description

Lovely still life showing a bowl full of roses by the Belgium artist Marcel Hess (1878 - 1948). The oil on panel is mounted in a quality wooden frame and signed by the artist. The painting dates from around 1920.

Marcel Hess was known for his still life paintings - particularly flowers - as well as his portraits of women. He studied at the Academy of Brussels and the Academy of Dusseldorf. He is listed in the 'Deux Siecles de Signatures d'Artistes Belgique' , which lists two centuries of leading Belgium artists.
