Early 20th Century Mira Pocket Watch and Chain

1920 - 1940
Description

Early 20th Century Mira pocket watch with chain.

The watch has a Swiss stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is signed Mira. The company was founded in 1896 and was named after the Mira star, discovered in 1596 by David Fabricius, and it means ‘wonderful’ and ‘astonishing’ in Latin. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover (there is a scratch across this inner cover).

The watch itself measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The white metal case is in lovely condition, as is the lens.

The white enamel dial is in lovely condition and has blued steel Breguet style hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track with 24 hour numbers.

The watch comes with a single chain which measures 31cm long including the T-bar and the clasp.

The watch will be sent in a new presentation box.

We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
