Exceptional Quality Holland and Sons Centre Library Table

An exceptional quality burr walnut Victorian ormolu mounted centre / writing / library table in the manner of Holland and Sons with exotic wood marquetry inlay of large proportions.

This is a very rare table to find with the marquetry and ormolu being of exceptional exhibition quality.

The quarter veneered bowed end top having a base of burr walnut being inlaid with thuya wood, boxwood and coloured exotic woods. With a beautiful central urn with griffons, ribbons and floral stems.

The border being inlaid of scrolling ribbons and flowers on a thuya wood background enclosed by an ormolu egg and dart moulding. Below which is a locking frieze drawer which has been finely inlaid with foliage along with the whole frieze making this bureau plat / library table free standing.

The whole standing on four turned and reeded ormolu mounted legs with a curved X-stretcher and ornate cast urnula finial.

In excellent condition having been restored using traditional methods this extremely fine table will happily grace any home or collection.

The colour is superb and this exceptional table shows all the signs of the extremely famous cabinet makers Holland and Sons with the marquetry just perfectly balanced so not to have too much or too little.

Our reasoning for attributing this table to Holland and Sons (as they did not always sign their furniture) is the marquetry work is extremely similar in pattern and quality to other attributed tables of Holland and sons. The ormolu work is also reminiscent of Holland and sons with various bandings on this table identical to attributed tables.
