This is a glazed antique bookcase in English oak with twin shelves.

Dating to c.1880 and in classic proportion, this bookcase displays wonderful patina and boasts the original tooled leather shelf fringes – designed to reduce dust settlement on the top of the books.

The firm, stable construction is formed from English oak and sits upon a continuous chamfered plinth base. The glazed doors are complete with original key and lock but do not lock. The twin shelves are complete with the swagged leather fringe with gold emboss tooling.

In the bottom of the cabinet is a secret compartment accessed by the hinged base panel completing this understated handsome antique.
