Arts and Crafts Antique Serving Table, C.1880

19th century
Description

This is a large antique pitch pine serving table.

Substantial and honest this arts and crafts serving table has Pugin overtones with gothic revival style and artisan simplicity in the construction and design.

The pitch pine has an almost golden hue and is decorated with the most simple of carvings. The eight solid legs join the stretcher rails and apron with pegged joints. Shaped brackets offer further stability and create the 'arch' shaped windows between the legs giving it an almost ecclesiastical altar table aesthetic.

Dating to circa 1880 this piece is as solid as the day it was constructed and serves great purpose as a serving table although it would equally well work as a kitchen island or anywhere where a strong, stable surface is required.

Superb quality and a stunning piece presented in excellent antique condition. Solid joints and construction. Delivered waxed & polished.

Please do let us know if you have any questions.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
