Japanese Bone Carved Antique Okimono Samurai Warrior

1920 - 1940
Description

This is a Japanese okimono, oriental art carving dating from the early 20th century.

A rare bone piece in excellent condition and a real statement piece of some size at 33cm (13") wide and 53.5cm (21") tall, the intricate carving depicts a a samurai warrior on horseback.

Every part of this fascinating sculpture is detailed with the finest of marks and carvings with flashes of colour highlighting and lifting elements within the piece. The reverse is as detailed as the fore complete with quiver and arrows.

The plinth base provides a stable and sturdy platform for this tremendous sculpture and carries an indistinct signature.

A beautiful ornament of great merit and interest.
