Japanese Edo Period Gold Inlaid Iron Tsuba

A charming Japanese late Edo period Tsuba forged from iron it is Quatre-lobed chased with decoration depicting two water buffalo, one standing by the bank of a stream under a tree while the second swims across, the reverse of the tsuba is chased with a stream affect with inlaid silver, gold & copper leaves & reeds breaking the surface. This splendid tsuba has had its hitsu plugged with shakudo and is in excellent overall condition measuring 3 ½ inches across.
