Howell And James, Repeat-alarm Carriage Clock

A fine ''repeater'' carriage clock by the very prestigious retailers - Howell and James of Regent Street , London . Howell and James were Jewellers, Silver and Goldsmiths and retailers between 1819 and 1911 and exhibited at the Great Exhibition of 1851 and at the International Exposition of 1862 in Paris. The gilded case of this fine clock is quite slim and has a very unusual and decorative handle which is rarely seen, the design of the case is similar to the famous maker-Bourdin. The movement is completely original and serviced, cleaned and polished and bears the number stamp of Drocourt 1495 with the initials H.L. stamped to the front plate, Henry Lepaute. Sold with a full 12 month guarantee . The dial is showing Roman numerals , makers name and the alarm dial. The clock strikes on the original bell . Circa 1870 .
