Large Pair of Imari Chargers

Description

A Large Pair of 19th Century Imari Chargers.

The gently sloping rims decorated with a band of flower heads, surrounded by trailing leaves and flowers. The body decorated in oval reserves, filled with landscape scenes, as a man crosses a wooden bridge toward a pagoda topped house, set amongst rocky hills and trees. Further reserves are filled with dragons and exotic birds with extravagant plumage. The centre of the chargers painted with scenes of flowers and trees growing in a naturalistic setting. The rear of each charger a raised foot rim, and stylised leaf decoration.

All vividly and well decorated and in good condition throughout.

Date c 1860.
