William IV Wine Cooler

19th century
Description

A William IV Mahogany Wine Cooler.

The flat top surrounded by an outer edge of slightly down swept broad rounded flutes, finished to each corner with acanthus leaves.

The rectangular body tapering downward and inward to an ogee lower mould. the facing laid with radiating quarter veneers, centred by a raised stylized leaf tablet. The whole on a small rectangular foot, and then a chamfered plinth base with recessed castors. The interior lined with lead.

Date c 1830.

Height 21 inches, width 30 inches, depth 21 inches.
