A charming Japanese Meiji period ivory okimono of an elderly wood gatherer, walking with a stick for support he carries a tied bundle of fire wood over his shoulder with a pouch and double gourd bottle tied to his belt. This finely detailed okimono is superbly carved and is unusually inset with a silver gilt signature seal on the underside, it is in excellent condition with no losses or damage and stands 6 ¾ inches tall.
