Sold by: Masons Antiques

A very nice mahogany cased Tavern clock by F. FLETCHER of SHREWSBURY from the Regency period.

Tavern clocks are quite rare and difficult to find. They are much sought after.

This is a superb example with every feature one would look for in a top class clock.

The 8 day, twin train, weight driven movement strikes the hours on a bell and has just been fully overhauled by our BHI registered staff.

Shaped and tapered lead weights with full length pendulum.

A convex white painted dial with black Roman numerals and superb cut hands. It is signed with the makers name ''F.FLETCHER. SHREWSBURY''

A cast brass bezel with convex glass.

The beautifully polished case with full length, Georgian style, key lockable door, is made from the very finest flame mahogany. It has a beautiful, age related, deep rich patina with chisel base.

An utterly original clock and one of the finest quality clocks I have seen in a long time. It is one that would adorn any worthy household.
