An interesting and original early 19th century mahogany APOTHECARY or MEDICINE BOX in fine original condition.

The lid is fitted with a recessed brass handle, with matching handle to the front drawer and original key. It opens to reveal the full set of bottles and jars, most with labels, whilst the drawer is fitted with various pieces of equipment including pestle & mortar; measuring jar; brass scales & weights, and an original letter dated 1841 ~ just a year after the first stamp was introduced. 8.5ins (21.5cms) high
