Description

Pretty Regency period ornamental flower encrusted porcelain chocolate cup and cover by Spode. Painted with garden flowers and insects in gorgeous vibrant colours, framed with gilded patterns and smothered with individually modelled flowers and foliage including simple single flowers and complex roses, pinks and daisies. Set on a quatrefoil scrolled foot and with mottled decorated split twin handles in green, yellow and brown, a typical feature of Spode pieces of this style. The piece is as typical unmarked bar the pattern number 7223 in gold.

It measures 4 1/2" high and 5" by 3 1/4" wide. Condition is very good with just some usual losses to some of the petals and 2 hairlines in the glaze on the underside of the lid, only showing approx. 1cm outside from under the knop.
