Description

A stunning 19th Century French giltwood salon sofa with a delightfully shaped curved back. This sofa is raised on elegant tapered, fluted legs, the giltwood frame is of high quality with good carved detailing. The condition of the frame is good, being sound and very stable. It is also very comfortable. The tapestry fabric can be described as "country house" ie. worn but acceptable, there are no obvious blemishes to the fabric. However, the purchaser may prefer to re-cover in a fabric of their choice. The gilding overall is in good order, there are areas of wear and a few surface chips which is to be expected in a much used antique piece of character, this does not detract from the beauty of this elegant sofa, in fact it adds to its charm.
