In A Nutshell Antiques and Interiors has dated this piece to the Edwardian era.
The desk has an inset green leather surface with gold tooling which has worn beautifully over the years. On the top of the desk is an arragement of 4 short drawers surmounted by the original brass gallery. There desk also has two short frieze drawers with the original brass drop handles. The whole piece is beautifully inlaid with contrasting edging and banding around every drawer, panel and down the legs.
It is in good condition and is clean and tidy throughout. The drawers run well and it has been thoroughly cleaned and polished. It has the original castors which have been cleaned and oiled and run well. There are some small chips on the corners of the desk and some minor signs of wear and age but nothing we consider detrimental. The desk is superb quality and displays beautifully and is ready for use.
