Large English Georgian Desk Compass C.1800 in Mahogany Case

Description

An impressive Georgian compass dating to around 1800 set in a hinged mahogany block measuring 4"square.

The compass has a shapely blued-steel needle and a clear copper plate engraved Galleon ship compass rose, the card divided into degrees and also showing all the points of the compass.

The needle is held by a detent which comes into play when the lid is closed. In full working order.

Excellent condition, the compass measuring 3 1/4 " in diameter and the case 4" square and 3/4" thick.
