Japanese Meiji Period Carved IVory Lion Okimono

A good quality Japanese Meiji period carved ivory okimono depicting a lion on a rocky outcrop with head turned looking back the way he came, beautifully detailed with abalone inset eyes. This fine okimono has a red inset seal on the underside and apart from a small old split above the right ear it is in excellent condition standing 3 ¾ inches tall.
