Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

An antique mahogany work table is a specialised piece of 18th and 19th-century furniture designed primarily for needlework and embroidery, featuring small storage drawers and often a suspended fabric well or pouch to hold textiles.

These tables were typically constructed from solid and veneered mahogany, rosewood, or satinwood, paired with brass castors, wooden or brass drawer knobs, and pleated silk or cotton lining for the work basket.

Authentic period examples exhibit hand-cut dovetail joints on the drawers, turned or reeded legs, original brass castors, genuine keyhole escutcheons, and natural wear or patination across the timber finish.

An antique work table functions effectively as an occasional side table beside an armchair or sofa, offering a compact footprint, historical interest, and practical hidden storage.

The timber should be dusted regularly with a soft cloth and conditioned with natural beeswax polish, while textile elements must be kept away from damp conditions and direct sunlight to prevent fading and fiber decay.
