Fine C18th Early George III Period Mahogany Library Bookcase with a Fitted Cupboard Base ,In Outstanding Totally Original and Untouched Condition.

Description

Fine C18th early George III period mahogany library bookcase with a fitted cupboard base , in outstanding totally original and untouched condition.

Superb quality Georgian bookcase with bar-glazed upper doors retaining their original hand-blown glass panels . The glass having wonderful movement and an almost convex profile . The divided centre top with 6 original adjustable shelves with 'ladder-racking' sides . (Supplied also with 4 additional C19th matching shelves to increase capacity if required).

The base section with a simple 'thumb-moulded' edge and fitted with twin panelled doors of book-matched flame mahogany with a rare and unusual figured satinwood cross-banding , which presents the illusion of fielded panels . The doors enclosing two banks of 6 graduated drawers each fitted with their original cast-brass 'swan-neck' handle.

Both pairs of doors fitted with their original reeded and patinated brass central 'slamming' strips ,double brass bolts and brass key escutcheons. Original locks and steel loop-handle key . The moulded cornice of simple uncomplicated design.

Raised upon original low , wide bracket feet supports . Original panelled back .

A well proportioned, low-waisted cabinet of restrained C18th design , a rare survivor presented in it's original untouched state .

Original surface with a rich ,deep colour and patination.
