Marquetry Inlaid Coffer Exceptional Quality C. 1720

Description

An exceptional piece of early 18th century furniture. Solid oak with domed hinge lid. The sides top and front with walnut reserves inlaids with birds and flowers within mahogany strapwork borders and oak banding, raised on original bracket feet. Original rivet iron hinges, superb colour and condition.

The marquetry being of exemplary skill and the work of a master. Each panel unique and set with doves, hawks, tulips and orchids of lifelike quality and movement.

Superb well developed colour and in finest original condition.

Extremely beautiful, fine and rare piece

Dimensions: 32.25 inches high (max) 49 inches wide, and 25 inches deep at widest point.
