A fine Japanese Meiji period one-piece ivory okimono depicting a scholar in decorative flowing robes holding a terrapin, he sports a moustache & beard with typically large ear lobes and a large hat. This beautiful okimono has an inlaid signature seal on the underside and apart from a tiny chip around the base it is in excellent condition standing 7 ½ inches tall.
