A Fine Quality Skeleton Clock Circa 1850

19th century
Description

A very good quality Victorian skeleton clock made by Edwards of Stourbridge and retailed by Manoah Rhodes of Bradford circa 1850

The 8 day timepiece fusee movement (chain driven) with six spoke wheels to the train, and skeletonised barrel, fronted by a narrow shaped silvered engraved brass chapter ring, signed to the lower edge M Rhodes Bradford, blued steel hands.

The high quality workmanship of the movement highlighted by detailed work to the pendulum and escapement.

The original rosewood veneered base with velvet pad, under the original oval glass dome.

The scroll shaped framework to the clock is typical of the design used by James Edwards of Stourbridge and can be safely attributed to his workshops

Height: 11.5" including dome

Width: 7.5"

Depth: 5"

Overall this is a beautiful quality skeleton clock in fine original condition.

The clock has been sympathetically cleaned and the movement fully restored to a high standard by our FBHI restorer with 12 months guarantee.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
