A gents late 1930s Art Deco Driva wrist watch.

Driva was founded in 1924 in La Chaux de Fonds, a famous location in the history of watchmaking. The founder was one of the members of the Hirsch family, an important family in the horological world. The original company went bankrupt after just five years but was resurrected in Geneva in 1938. Driva became very successful, supplying many private label watches with a large market in the United States. Unfortunately, as with so many manufacturers of mechanical watches, they did not survive the quartz revolution of the 1970s.

This particular watch has a Swiss hand-winding movement, a 15-jewels ETA 390, which is working nicely.

The itself measures 27.5mm wide excluding the winding crown and 31mm high excluding the lugs. The case is nickel and it is in good condition with just light surface marks.

The lens is in good condition too.

The signed dial is in its original untouched finish which has darkened with age but still easy to read the time.

A later leather strap has been fitted.

The watch will be sent in a new presentation box.
