Description

!9th cent rosewood and marquetry eight day " Portico Clock " with original dome and plinth. Movement signed T.B. to back plate.

The columns with gilt brass capitols and bases and boxwood lines. The gilt bronze bezel enclosing an enamel dial with Roman numerals and moon hands.

The eight day movement with temperature compensated gridiron pendulum, striking the hours and half hour on a bell.

It's rare to find a Portico clock with its original glass dome and base as the vast majority have been broken, so if it doesn't have a glass dome then the clock is incomplete and will not be protected from dust and consequently will need servicing and cleaning yearly!
