Large Cold Painted Bronze Desk Letter Clip - Game Birds - Quail with Chicks C.1890

Description

A fabulous and impressive large desk clip, perfect for holding letters or important papers in place.

The base is made from solid Walnut, and once the sprung clip is opened, the original colour is shown underneath preserved by the bronze which has protected the colour.

The bronze is just wonderful with a naturalistic base, topped with game birds, I believe a Quail and two chicks with the ears of wheat used as the lever to open the clip. Quail found in England and southern Scotland are very difficult to see - easier to hear, usually calling from grass or cereal fields.

Victorian in era and in excellent condition. An impressive size, measuring 10 1/2" x 4 1/2" x 3" tall.
