Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1890s.

The bronze is just wonderful with a naturalistic base, topped with game birds, I believe a Quail and two chicks with the ears of wheat used as the lever to open the clip. Quail found in England and southern Scotland are very difficult to see - easier to hear, usually calling from grass or cereal fields.
Victorian in era and in excellent condition. An impressive size, measuring 10 1/2" x 4 1/2" x 3" tall.
