A fine carriage clock in a gilt ''Gorge'' design case. The clock is in very original condition with a white enamel dial showing Roman numerals with the retailers name and address Leroy & Fils in both Paris and London (slightly rubbed). A large top glass to view the original Bi-metallic balance and silvered platform escapement. The unusual rear winding is the first we have seen and after hours of research online and offline, appears to be quite rare. It is novel idea to keep the back sealed and in turn keep the dust out. A small YouTube clip here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uq6DvYlCV_c . It also has an original outer case which is shown on the detailed images. Striking the hours and half hours on a gong. The movement is completely original and sold with a full 12 month guarantee. The movement bears the stamps of Leroy with number 12356, and the Drocourt stamp and number. Circa 1880-90.
As seen on T.V. Salvage Hunters - The Restorers ! Please remember we are closed Sundays and M...ondays, open every other day from 9am until 5pm . If we have not responded to an email, we may not have received it...please call or whatsapp us as well.
