A splendid century continental cupboard c.1730 of good proportions, the sturdy carcass and interior all in original solid walnut, pinned & pegged in construction with original plank & board back. The sides and front of the cupboard are panelled and it has 4 internal shelves with two drawers.This fine cupboard clearly retained its appeal through the Victorian period as restorations appear to have been made including replacement hinges & door handles, and an oak base & cornice, all of which complement the appearance of the cupboard.Through its life time the cupboard has developed a wonderfully rich patina and displays many charming signs of genuine age and use, one of the original wood handles of the internal draws was slightly damaged but left as it is still usable, the shelves and draw fronts have a fantastic aged appearance and signs of replaced hinges and locks through the generations can be identified on close inspection.
