Victorian Cherub Holding Torchere Light

1900 - 1920
Description

Circa 1900-1920, this spelter winged cherub wall light was always made for electricity, and still has it's original torchere glass shade.

The light measures 55cm in length (including the shade) and has a backplate of 21cm in length. The back plate has a small bar at the back which may not be visible in the last photo, and it also has an open square where it can be attached to the wall. The total distance from the backplate out to the front of the shade when fitted, would be approximately 25cm.

The cherub has little wings on his back and is holding a bow in one hand, and the light in the other. Both the cherub, surrounds and glass shade are all in very good condition. We will be putting a clear polish over the piece to keep the metal clean and to enhance the colours, and we have just had the light rewired to UK specifications.

Postage and packing within the UK mainland has been included in the price, but for outside areas and abroad, please contact us to give you a quote for delivery.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
