Antique Longines Private Label Pocket Watch, 1904

An antique Longines private label pocket watch.

The watch has a 17-jewel stem-winding movement which is working well. The movement has been identified as a Longines although it is not signed as it was made as a private label watch made on behalf of the jeweller Alex Ross of Ontario. The serial number of 1,670,103 dates it back to 1904. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.

The watch itself measures just under 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is gold filled and was made by the Amrok Watch Case Company of New York. They would have probably imported the movement to be cased and prepared for onward wholesale. The case has a couple of small “dings” to the back, and a couple of scratches running through the cartouche but overall the condition is good.

The watch glass is in good condition, just a couple of small marks if viewed closely.

The white enamel dial is signed with the retailer’s name. There is a group of hairline cracks between 1 and 2 although they are faint.

The watch will be sent in a new presentation box.
