Collinge Antiques has dated this piece to the Georgian era.
Open the fall to reveal a scarlet baize writing surface and an exceptional fitted interior of small oak lined drawers and pigeon holes. Further drawers are hidden behind the little lockable poker work marquetry door, and there are two ingenious secret compartments. Below the desk is an unusually configured chest of three long drawers of graduated depth and two small drawers. Quality timbers, used as solid mahogany boards in the sides, door panels, fall and drawer fronts. The bureau backboards and drawer linings are solid oak. Excellent colour and condition, cleaned and polished in our workshops. Original locks, handles also appear to be period, though it seems the top drawer had knobs fitted at one time. Keys supplied.
Dimensions: width 38", depth 23", height 86½".
