Heathland Landscape - Oil Painting

Description

Large oil on canvas signed by Belgium artist Victor de Groux (1895 - 1973) mounted in an exceptional quality frame. The painting shows a view of 'des Fagnes' (high Fens) which is a protected nature reserve covering more then four thousand hectares of heathland. The painting is in excellent condition and has a subtle palette.

Victor de Groux was a Belgium landscape painter known for his landscapes, woodlands, heathlands and river views of the Barbant and Ardenne Regions. He was related to the genre painter Charles de Groux and a student of Constant Montald. Ther are various permenatnt public collections of his work in Belgium and he is referenced in Fierens, Berko and Piron, etc.

The painting and frame are in excellent condition and dates from around 1940.
