Early C19th George IV period mahogany sculpture display column .

Rare architecturally-inspired classical design mahogany pedestal. The cylindrical-bodied column upon a plinth base, and with a stepped circular top . The upper part of the column with a band of carved classical design squared flower or rose-head bosses with a flat ring of moulding below .

The upper portion of one side of the column having a hinged door fitted with its original turned knob handle enclosing a shelved cupboard cavity . The cupboard possibly designed to house a book or gallery glass.

In excellent original condition with no damage , repairs or losses . The figured mahogany having a rich patina and colour.

Has been cleaned and waxed in our workshops.
