A Superb Dome Top Coaching Trunk Circa 1820

Description

This superb coaching trunk bears all the typical indicators of a period piece. These trunks were used in transit and were often strapped to the top and sides of mail coaches. The coating of black pitch paint was to protect them and the contents from all types of weather. This example has the quirky addition of a lining made from the psalms! Original handles, studs etc.

Benefiting tremendously by the original suppliers label bearing his london address, oxford street no less, and his terms of business! A lovely feature.

The ultimate 'poldark' accessory!
