Antique Edwardian Queen Anne Burr Walnut Bureau Desk C1900

Description

This is a georgeous antique edwardian burr walnut bureau in the style of queen anne and dating from aorund 1900. The fall front has a cross banded and moulded edge with ornate brass escutcheon and opens to reveal a lovely serpentine shaped interior with central door flanked on either side by a bookend secret compartment with half turned column. There are two small drawers to each side with four pigeon holes above. It has its original brown leather writing surface, which shows signs of usage and age but is perfectly usable.

To the base there are four graduating breakfront drawers with original brass handles and key escutcheons and all of which are mahogany lined. The drawer to the base has a large attractive carved shell motife. It is moulded to the edge and stands on lovely cabriole legs with a claw & ball foot.

In very good condition with lovely colour and original patination to the walnut it measures:

40" high X knee height 30" X 17.5" deep X 38" wide
