In A Nutshell Antiques and Interiors has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
The chairs are stamped on the underneath with a maker "Sopwith & Co. Newcastle on Tyne".
They are in excellent condition with a rich patina. The seats are firm and comfortable and the joints are strong. There are a few minor knocks and light scuffs around the legs and some minor age-related marks here and there but nothing detrimental. In one chair there is a small split in the wood on the back (see photo). They have all been cleaned and lightly polished and they are a good sturdy set of chairs, ready for use.
