Description

A quality Georgian Scottish Longcase clock. A swan-neck hood pediment surmounted by 3 original giltwood finials. Brass capped front and rear quarter hood column capitals. A well proportioned mahogany case with figured trunk door flanked by brass capped side columns. A well detailed brass and silvered dial with fine central engraving. An 8-day duration mechanism striking the hours on a bell.

John Barr of Port Glasgow is recorded in Whytes' 'Scottish Clockmakers' book as working in 1783.
