The frame has some small losses and a fine crack in the bottom rail.

William Douglas Almond was born in London in 1868. A prodigious talent, he painted 'Sleeping Monk' at just 20 years of age.
In his short life he exhibited at all of the principal London galleries including The Royal Academy, the Royal Institute of Oil Painters and the Royal Society of British Artists (of which he was a Member)
