Elkington Sterlnig Silver Thomas Webb Cameo Glass Jar & Cover - 1886

A superb cameo glass jar by Thomas Webb & Sons, white over red decorated with five butterflies in different stages of flight, on a circular foot with white border and polished pontil. This fine jar has a hallmarked silver mount & cover dated 1886 assayed in Birmingham and made by the esteemed silversmith Frederick Elkington, both the mount and finial topped cover are chased with decoration depicting griffin’s in flight. The jar and cover are in excellent condition with no damage or restoration.
