Description

A wonderfully tall example of a Victorian biscuit box made from heavy English crystal decorated in the ever-popular hobnail design.

The fittings are made from English sterling silver hallmarked for London 1878 together with the coveted Queen Victoria's head duty mark and the makers initials for the silversmith, Charles Edwards. The lid with the turned Ebony finial and silver terminal isn't marked but does also test as sterling silver, so the mark must have been polished away over the last 150 years.

The folding handle is beautifully decorated and is also hallmarked.

A beautiful and grand box standing 9 1/2" tall to top of handle while upright x 5" in diameter.
