A superb Japanese Meiji period bronze figurine of Daruma, a 6th century Buddhist monk accredited with the physical training of the monks of the Shaolin monastery. Standing on a reed wearing a full robe which appears to be swept by the wind he has a stern scowl on his face, this finely detailed bronze is mounted on a hardwood stand and is finished with red pattination, it has the artists signature seal on the reverse and is in excellent overall condition.
