Antique Burr Walnut Writing Bureau by Waring & Gillows

1900 - 1920
Description

This antique burr walnut bureau is very high quality, so not surprisingly it was made by 'Waring & Gillows' & still bears the metal label. The burr walnut veneers are stunning & give off wonderful patterns, plus rich colours. The pull down slope is cross banded & so are the drawers, which have the original brass handles, escutcheons & locks. The three drawers are graduated in depth & the top drawer has a concave front. The writing compartment interior is also good quality, with small drawers, a centre cupboard & pigeon holes. This bureau sits on carved solid walnut legs. It's structurally sound, in good original condition & dates from around the 1920-30's period.
