Edwardian Silver Evening Bag, Birmingham 1915

1900 - 1920
Description

A pretty Edwardian silver evening bag, Birmingham 1915, the two solid sides have rounded edges and are hinged at the bottom to enable the bag to open. It has a press fastening to the top and original silver chain handle. One side engraved with the initials 'C.P. T.P.' in gothic script and dated '12.3.1917', suggesting that it may have been presented to a bride on the occasion of her marriage. The Morocco leather interior fastens with a silver clasp in the centre which opens to reveal a three section interior.

The bag is in good condition overall. It has been used and has some dinting as you would expect, also some surface scratching. The two sides fit nicely together and the clasp works well, the interior is in good condition and the chain handle is original.

9.5cm high (excluding chain handle), 16.5cm long, 2.75cm diam. across the bottom edge.
