Drocourt: A Good Striking Carriage Clock

Description

ALFRED DROCOURT: a fine late 19th century French CARRIAGE CLOCK in full working order.

The "Cannalee" case retains its original gilding and bevelled glass panels to all sides and the top, whilst the 8-day movement strikes hours and half-hours on a gong and retains its fine original lever platform escapement. Signed to the backplate with the "DC" trademark and also to the dial & movement with the retailers: C.J.Klaftenburg of London and Paris.

**Alfred and son Pierre DROCOURT were amongst the finest of French carriage clockmakers in the mid/late 19th century. Serial numbers run to over 35,000; this clock is numbered 18130.
